Background of the Study
Clinical nursing rounds are structured and systematic interactions between nurses and patients, which are typically carried out to assess patient conditions, deliver nursing interventions, and develop care plans. These rounds are a core aspect of patient care in hospitals, aimed at improving patient outcomes by ensuring that all healthcare providers, including nurses, are actively involved in monitoring and adjusting patient care. In Niger State, clinical rounds are an essential practice in major hospitals, although their specific impact on patient recovery has not been fully explored.
Research suggests that clinical nursing rounds enhance patient recovery by facilitating early detection of complications, promoting patient education, and improving the communication between patients and healthcare providers (Smith et al., 2024). Nurses, who are often the first to interact with patients and closely monitor their progress, are pivotal in these rounds. The involvement of nurses in clinical rounds ensures a holistic approach to patient care, directly influencing recovery rates. However, limited studies exist on how clinical nursing rounds specifically impact recovery outcomes in Niger State hospitals. This study aims to investigate the relationship between clinical nursing rounds and patient recovery outcomes in Niger State.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of clinical nursing rounds, there is limited empirical evidence to assess their effectiveness in improving patient recovery in Niger State hospitals. Given the growing number of healthcare facilities in the region and the increased patient load, the role of clinical rounds may be pivotal in enhancing the quality of care and improving patient outcomes. This study seeks to evaluate the impact of clinical nursing rounds on patient recovery and determine factors that could optimize this practice in Niger State.
Objectives of the Study
1. To assess the frequency and structure of clinical nursing rounds in healthcare facilities in Niger State.
2. To evaluate the impact of clinical nursing rounds on patient recovery outcomes in Niger State.
3. To identify the challenges faced by nurses during clinical nursing rounds and recommend strategies for improvement.
Research Questions
1. How frequently are clinical nursing rounds conducted in healthcare facilities in Niger State?
2. What is the impact of clinical nursing rounds on patient recovery outcomes in Niger State?
3. What challenges do nurses face during clinical nursing rounds in Niger State?
Research Hypotheses
1. Clinical nursing rounds have a positive impact on patient recovery outcomes in Niger State.
2. There is a significant difference in patient recovery outcomes between patients involved in regular clinical nursing rounds and those who are not in Niger State.
3. Lack of sufficient staff and resources significantly hampers the effectiveness of clinical nursing rounds in Niger State.
Definitions of Terms
